Why Clean Makeup Brushes?
Our makeup brushes are in direct contact with the skin. If they are not cleaned in time, they will be contaminated with skin oil, dander, dust, and bacteria. It is applied to the face every day, which is likely to cause the skin to contact bacteria and cause inflammation, similar to: acne, easy allergies, redness and itching! Cleaning your makeup brushes regularly also ensures a clean everyday look. If the eye shadow on the eye brush will also affect the effect of our makeup. If the foundation on the foundation brush dries, it will also affect the use of the brush and the effect of makeup. Regular cleaning is also good for the maintenance of the brush itself, and the "life" of the brush can also be extended.
Generally speaking, how long is it appropriate to clean?
Wet sponge or make-up sponge: wash liquid and paste makeup brushes (such as lip brushes, eyeliner brushes, and blush brushes) every day: once every 1 or 2 weeks; for frequent use, it is recommended to clean them every week.
Dry powder makeup brushes (such as eye shadow brushes, highlighter brushes, and blush brushes): Once a month; clean once a month to reduce damage to the bristles. If you are worried that the makeup brushes you usually use are not clean enough, you can do some dry cleaning.
How to clean makeup brushes?
Step 1: Choose a piece of kitchen paper towel and fold the kitchen paper towel twice. Kitchen paper towels are better than cotton sheets, which have lint, which will affect the cleaning effect. Kitchen towels are thicker, more absorbent, and easier to use than regular paper towels.
Step 2: Pour a sufficient amount of eye and lip makeup remover on the paper towel. Makeup remover is mainly to remove grease and residual substances on makeup brushes. Compared with cleansing oil, eye and lip makeup remover is not greasy and easier to clean.
Step 3: Scrub the dirty makeup brush repeatedly on a kitchen paper towel. On the tissue, we can see residual liquid foundation impurities.
Step 4: Place the cleaned makeup brush in warm water to wash. During the cleaning process, try not to let the metal ring on the upper part of the brush head get wet, otherwise the glue in the metal ring may become degummed and the brush will fall off.
Step 5: Wash your makeup brushes with a foaming cleanser. Makeup brushes can be washed repeatedly with a fine comb. Usually there will be a lot of residual cosmetics in our makeup brushes. When cleaning, we must clean these as well.
Step 6: When cleaning, you can comb the brush with a comb, so that the impurities in the brush can also be cleaned. Clean until no impurities flow out.
Step 7: Here we can use our fingers to feel whether there is any oil left on the brush head, or we can directly use oil-absorbing paper to confirm. No oil is felt, or no oil bleeds out on the paper towel.
Step 8: Drain the excess water from the brush on the towel, and clean up the water stains on the pen barrel.
Step 9: Finally, place the brush on the plate, with the brush head higher than the desktop. Use a small fan to blow overnight, and the larger makeup brushes can basically dry. The dense brush head is easy to breed bacteria in the presence of water, so it is very important to continue to dry the brush with a fan‼ ️Excessive wind or high temperature may cause the brush to deform. It is recommended to use the weakest wind, cold wind.
Remarks: It is recommended that the height of the brush head be lower than the height of the pen barrel. In this way, the moisture will not flow back and will not cause degumming at the root of the brush.
Step 10: After the makeup brush is dry, let's check again whether the inside of the makeup brush is dry. Confirm that there is no problem, and the makeup brush will be washed very cleanly.
Precautions:
Q: Is it better to wash the bristles in hot water, or to soak in the cleaning solution longer?
Of course not. Too high water temperature and too long soaking time will affect the fibers of the bristles, which will also increase the probability of the brush being broken. So usually use warm water and soak for about 1 minute, just make sure to wash it clean and there is no residual cosmetics.
Q: Can brushes be hung upside down to dry?
No. Using the upside-down method, moisture may flow into the pen holder and cause mildew. Not only that, but also try not to touch the water at the junction of the pen holder and the bristles, so as to avoid the adhesive glue falling off and causing damage to the brush. Therefore, it is best to hang it on a brush rack to dry along the direction of hair flow, or to place it horizontally.
Q: Can the brushes be dried faster with a hair dryer?
Better not. Drying with a hair dryer can damage the bristles and reduce the life of the brush. Do not expose the cleaned makeup brushes to the sun. Because most of the water has been sucked up, there is not much water left, just lay it flat and dry in the shade. The best way is to dry it in the shade indoors and prepare several sets of brushes to avoid unexpected needs.
Q: Do you wash the whole brush together?
Do not touch the whole brush with water during cleaning. It should be washed in the direction of the bristles, without touching the spout, which can prevent hair loss or signs of loose brush rods, and can prevent mildew on the brush rods.
